Two British nationals were found dead early Saturday morning in Kuredu Island Resort after a suspected road accident.
At 04:15am on 6 August, management at the resort informed the Maldives Police Service that two of their guests were found with injuries at the roadside of the resort. Third individual, also believed to be injured in the incident is currently in hospital being treated for the injuries.
Police Officers from Naifaru Police Station were immediately dispatched to the resort. Furthermore, Maldives Police Service dispatched a special investigation team from police headquarters in Male’ to the resort.
The identities of the two British nationals in question are not being revealed until police have spoken to their families.
The police are currently conducting a full inquiry into the deaths and will release further details in due course.
