Operation Blue Waves officially begins

Operation Blue Waves, by Maldives Police Service to help make the 2013 Presidential Elections proceed peacefully, has started officially.

The operation will take place from 1800 hours of 15th August 2013 till voting ends and the elected President is officially sworn in.

A large number of officers from Male’ and the islands would take part in the operation.

Additional to the normal patrolling in Male’ more Officers will be deployed in the capital to maintain peace.

Additional Officers will also be deployed to the islands.

During the operation Officers will take a priority to stop campaign members from breaking any campaign laws and to stop any incident that may occur.

Officers of the operation will be patrolling Male’ in two shifts from 1800 hours tonight.
