Court remands two arrested in 215kg drug case to 15 days in custody

215KGDrugCase The court has remanded the two suspects arrested in an operation conducted on October 15, 2021, by the Drug Enforcement Department, Drug Intelligence Unit, Marine Police, Raa Atoll Police and Forensic Police to 15 days in police custody. Ali Shakir, 42, Finifaru, R. Maduvvari and Nimal Abdul Haris, 33, Fehiali, R. Maduvvari, were taken into police custody in connection to the case. In the operation conducted as part of the Police's efforts to prevent drug trafficking and distribution in the Maldives, Police carried out a vast search in various locations including uninhabited islands and a speed boat. The drugs seized in this case were found on an uninhabited island in Raa Atoll. A total of 215 kilos of drugs were seized in the operation. The case is under investigation by the Drug Enforcement Department of Maldives Police Service.
