Regarding limiting right to peaceful assembly due to declaration of National Public Health Emergency

Press Statement No.: PMC/2020/08 On 12th March 2020, the Minister of Health has declared a National Public Health Emergency under Article 33 of the Public Health Protection Act (Law 7/2012). The declaration, subsequently, limits the right to peaceful assembly for preservation of the common good, and promote public health and general wellbeing of the society, according to articles 33(a)(4) and 39 of The Right to Peaceful Assembly Act (Law 1/2013). In purview of the need for social distancing to contain COVID-19, ensure safety of everyone, and uphold the rule of law, the MPS urges all individuals to respect and abide by the laws of the country and follow the instructions of the Director General of Public Health.
