Reference No.: PMC/2020/09 With reference to the public announcement number 2020/28 of Health Protection Authority of the Maldives announcing a three hour curfew from 17:00 to 20:00 hours, banning gatherings of more than three people in public spaces at all times, and suspension of transport services in the said period, effective from the 2^nd April 2020 in Malé Area (Malé, Villimalé and Hulhumalé), the Maldives Police Service wishes to advise everyone to respect and comply with that decision so as to support the government’s effort to contain the spread of COVID-19. May we remind that the police will be enforcing that decision. People found violating the orders of the Health Protection Authority will be cautioned and subjected to fines, if found repeatedly breaching the public safety order. We appeal everyone to follow the orders of the Director General of Public Health and practice social distancing during this public health emergency. We acknowledge the hardships faced by the public and express our gratitude to all the law-abiding people.
