Recruitment process
Six stages to joining the Maldives Police Service
Each stage must be completed successfully to progress.
Application
Submit the complete application and required documentation (downloadable or via Police HQ). Application is free; no recruitment agent.
Aptitude Test
Three papers: General Knowledge (multiple choice + essay, in English & Dhivehi), Numerical Reasoning (multiple choice, no calculator), Verbal & Non-verbal Logical Reasoning. Time management is important. Sample questions are supplied.
Physical Fitness Screen Test
Exercises: push-ups, sit-ups, 1.5 mile run. Must meet minimum standards (varies by age/gender).
Swimming Test
Stay afloat for 20 minutes without assistance, then swim 75 meters freestyle within time limits. Same performance standards apply regardless of age/gender.
Interview Panel
Applicants are interviewed by a panel of police officers. Questions about motives, expectations, preparation, and suitability are asked.
Medical Fitness Test
Health screening, blood & urine tests at a registered hospital/clinic. Applicants must pay for these tests themselves.
