The community event “Avatteri Moodhu Mahaasama” was successfully held with a wide range of recreational and awareness activities aimed at strengthening community engagement and promoting public safety.
The event was held on 16 May 2026 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Aqua Arena Water Park in Hulhumalé Phase 1.
The programme was organised collaboratively by the Public Trust and Confidence Management Department, Hulhumalé Police, and several other departments of the Maldives Police Service. The event received strong public participation, with a large number of families and children attending throughout the day.

The initiative was conducted in an open and friendly environment to further strengthen the relationship between the police and the community. Information and awareness were shared regarding crime prevention, social issues, and public safety matters affecting the community. Police officers also engaged directly with children to reassure them that the police are a friendly, approachable service committed to ensuring their safety and well-being.
The event included a variety of water and land-based recreational activities designed for children and families. Awareness sessions were also conducted, with a special focus on educating children on safe practices and responsible behaviour when engaging in sea-related activities.

Children selected through a lucky draw held during the event were awarded gift vouchers. Appreciation plaques were also presented to individuals and organisations that contributed to the successful conduct of the programme.
The Maldives Police Service received assistance and support from several partners and organisations in conducting the event successfully. These included Maldivian Red Crescent, Aqua Arena, Maldives Water Sports, Aloha Water Sports, Deep Blue Extreme Water Sports, Moodhu Club, HDC, Island Perfume, Crossroads Maldives, Café I'er, Red Snaper, STO, and Island Apparels.

The Maldives Police Service extends sincere appreciation to all parties who supported and contributed to the success of the event. Programmes of this nature provide families with an opportunity to spend quality time together in a safe and enjoyable environment, while also strengthening the relationship between the police, the public, and partner organisations in building a safer and more secure community.
This annual community engagement programme aims to strengthen social bonds within the community, encourage healthy lifestyles, promote family interaction, and create opportunities for families to spend meaningful time together in a positive environment.
